As a #careerlion, it is very important to continue developing yourself. However, how do you find the time and place to do all that? We have mentioned in the past some tools that we use throughout our blogs. However, we have not yet dedicated a post on the tools you could use to further develop yourself in addition to your already busy lifestyle. Today, we will cover some of these tools.
GetAbstract is a great service that offers abstracts of books and articles specifically for business customers. Of course, there are many providers for this service. In the next weeks, I am going to use this service and see whether this is indeed the one that I will stick with. The plan here is to use my commuting hours to gain some knowledge, especially with Liona on holiday and my favorite commuting occupation of calling unavailable.
Solo Learn has passed by in a few of our blogs already as well, where I mentioned that I started to learn more about Java. With Solo Learn you can learn how to code for free on any of your devices. This makes learning easy even when you are on the go. While I never quite progressed as far as I wanted with Java, it helped me to get the knowledge I needed for my current job. A recent project also requires me to have a bit more python knowledge. Where a cheat sheet and some YouTube videos were already quite helpful, I plan to use Solo Learn again to get to know the basics in an easy and structured way.
Coursera offers only courses by top instructors from the best universities and educational institutions in the world. Think Yale, Harvard, and the Delft University of Technology amongst others. They provide a lot of material and access to a great community. You can access a lot of material for free. However, to get a certificate and full access, you will have to choose for a payment option. I plan to do some management courses there in the coming period myself.
Do you take time to develop yourself on your off time? Do you use any of these already? Or do you have other tips? Please share.
