Tools from the titan himself
It’s probably obvious by now, I am a huge Tim Ferriss fan. Whether it’s his books, blog, podcast, or tv show, I love it all. My latest addiction? Tim Ferriss’ YouTube channel! Cause I feel I am not the only one who enjoys learning tools from the titan himself, here are a few of my personal favourites!
Ferriss elaborates on skills one needs to master to be more productive. One of the skills he mentions is morning meditation. It helps to structure thoughts and be less distracted during the day. Personally, I love to do some guided meditation using the Headspace app for iPhone. I am currently on an 80 plus day streak, which is actually making me more motivated to keep it up.
Main learning from this one: do not only try and improve your product, but improve its system or process. This can be done by starting with the question: What – if accomplished – will make everything else easier or irrelevant? For example, when starting out with careerlions.com Ashley and I were figuring out our process to review each other’s blog post. We’ve tried several methods and have the process down for the most part now. We know when to expect a blog post draft ready for review, where to find it and how to comment on it. Sounds simple, but it didn’t always used to be that way. Curious about more productivity concepts from Tim Ferriss’ book? I elaborate on more concepts of the Four Hour Work Week in a previous article.
About diet and nutrition
In this one Ferriss explains the pros and cons of the slow carb diet versus the ketogenic diet. In a nutshell, the ketogenic diet is focused on eating good fats. The slow carb diet, as the name suspects, is aimed on eating carbs that have a lower glycaemic index and therefore digest slowly.
This one! About cheat days. I don’t know about you but I start out with eating super disciplined, then I add in a cheat meal every now and then. The cheat meal becomes a cheat day once a week. The cheat day becomes a cheat weekend, that becomes a cheat week, month and so forth. Before I know it, I am having a cheat life! However, keeping balance is a hard thing for me. I’ll try to cut back on sugar, fried food and carbs during the week again. I’ll save that for my cheat Saturdays!
Did you notice the wall of plants in the backdrop? That actually got me inspired to buy my first little plants to have more oxygen in my living space. Yes, fangirl might be an understatement.
So, what do you think of these learnings? There are so many more, like the one about speed reading or Tim’s favourite drinks. Did you enjoy watching the videos and what’s your fave? Let us know in the comments below!
